Msumbiji

Msumbiji means Mozambique in Kiswahili, though nobody seems to know why the site carries that name. Rock formations covered in soft corals, sponges, algae and anemones form slopes and small sheer walls. Away from the main block, coral spires create archways and overhangs to explore. The site is rich in nudibranchs and flatworms, stingrays and blue-spotted rays, and the top of the reef is good for cuttlefish and octopus. Being next to a sandbank, visibility is unpredictable, but the rock faces come alive at night.
