Mange Reef

Also known as: Mange · Mangue Reef

Mange is a reef around a sandbank south of Mafia, reached on a full-day trip about two hours from the dive centre. Its shallows hold fine stands of staghorn coral that suit snorkellers, while the western side drops away as a sloping wall. It is one of the few Mafia sites where white-tip reef sharks are seen, along with giant reef rays, lobsters, turtles and frogfish. Big Blu runs two dives here, one through a coral channel onto sand with coral and rock clusters and one along a sloping reef with overhangs. The trip includes a picnic on the sandbank and, in season, whale watching, and depends strongly on weather and tide.
