Paul's Anchor

Also known as: Paul's Anchors

Paul's Anchor is famous for its old anchors, so overgrown with coral and sponge that some are hard to see; Conch Club Divers link them to the naval battle said to have given Bloody Bay its name. One anchor about 10 ft tall leans against the coral ridge and, according to operators, points straight to the mooring pin. The reef slopes gently to a rugged drop-off with a canyon about 60 ft deep. Sand tilefish, octopus and yellowhead jawfish live in the rubble, while turtles, sharks, green morays and spotted eagle rays are frequently seen.
