Marilyn's Cut
Also known as: Marylin's Cut
At Marilyn's Cut a trench opens near the mooring and runs through the hardpan to the wall, starting around 30 ft and opening at about 70 ft. Operators describe one or two such canyons, plus a tunnel that turns into a short vertical passage back to the reef top. The wall is dotted with yellow tube and red rope sponges, and black coral grows along both sides of the eastern cut, with a very large barrel sponge beside it. Nudibranchs, sea slugs and octopus are good finds, a green moray has lived in the cut, and potholes in the shallows are full of juveniles. A friendly Nassau grouper was long a fixture of this stretch.
