Le Corail

Also known as: Marc Joly

The trawler was built in the Netherlands as the Marc Joly, came to New Caledonia in the late 1960s and later served the Navy's Pacific oceanographic mission before ending as a private boat. Because the wreck is small and exposed to the trade winds, Mobula Diving schedules it rarely and only with small groups. The surrounding seagrass sometimes brings dugongs and guitarfish, and big barracuda and yellow jacks use the area. Sea snakes move among the shrimps on the well-colonised hull. The flat bottom makes it a good spot for compass and buoyancy training.
