The Arch

The Arch sits less than 200 m off the cliffs a short way north of Point Perpendicular, the northern headland of Jervis Bay. A gully about 7 m wide runs into the reef, and on its eastern side opens an arch that divers swim under at well over 30 m. The walls and the underside of the arch carry dense sponges, gorgonians and other fixed life, and eastern blue devils shelter in the overhangs. Port Jackson sharks gather here in numbers, and wobbegongs, seapike and yellowtail are seen as well. Because of the depth, bottom time is short and the site is recommended for experienced or deep-trained divers.
