Drum and Drumsticks

Also known as: The Drum

The Drum and Drumsticks are rock outcrops off Beecroft Peninsula, north of the Jervis Bay entrance and open to the ocean. The best reef lies on the north and north-east side of the Drum, where a large cave and several small swim-throughs can be explored. Australian fur seals live here all year, PADI calls it the northernmost year-round colony on the east coast, and they often play with divers underwater. Large blue gropers and wobbegongs hide among the rocks, and a big open gouge in one island is called the Lion's Den. The rocks were used for military target practice, and dummy bombs still lie in front of the cave.
