USS Monitor

Also known as: Monitor

The wreck was discovered in 1973 and became Monitor National Marine Sanctuary. It lies at around 240 ft in a deep and changeable environment that DAN calls extremely dangerous for unprepared divers. Qualified technical divers can visit it with a permit from the sanctuary. DAN describes the Monitor as one of the most prestigious goals for technical divers worldwide.
