Australia

The Australia was one of the largest ships lost on the Diamond Shoals. Only the stern section offers much relief today, as shifting sands cover most of the remaining hull. Sand tiger sharks are usually numerous, and NC Wreck Diving has seen a manta ray at the site. Sea conditions near the shoals only allow occasional dives, and visibility is highly variable.
