Çamburnu Amphora Wreck
Also known as: Amfora Batığı
Off Çamburnu lies a field of amphorae from an ancient merchant ship, a reminder that the straits have long been a trade route between the Black Sea and the Aegean. Many jars are broken, but others stand intact and upright, which suggests the site has lain undisturbed for a long time. Anchor damage is visible where the amphorae are densest. The concentration of the cargo points to a single shipwreck.
