Aquarium

Also known as: Aquarium North · Aquarium South

Aquarium is a submerged rock lying south of the eastern Daymaniyat islands, technically just outside the nature reserve. The descent is made to its top at about 7 m, and the current decides whether the group turns north or south along the wall. Heading north, a sand chute leads to a small plateau at about 22 to 24 m, while the southern route passes sand patches and coral blocks. Shoals of snappers, jacks, batfish and barracuda can fill the view, and the wall is good for nudibranchs, scorpionfish and Jayakar's seahorse. Leopard sharks and rays rest on the sand, and turtles and the occasional whale shark visit the shallow plateau.
