Akitsushima
Also known as: Akitsushima Maru
The ship carried a large flying boat and was sunk by a hit near the stern, which almost tore it in two. Its big seaplane crane is still recognisable and lies on the sand, where batfish and barracuda gather. Anti-aircraft gun mountings and the radio tower remain to be seen. Inside, trained wreck divers can reach the engine room with its four diesel engines. Grouper, tuna and schools of sweetlips are regularly reported around the hull.
