MV Captain Keith Tibbetts
Also known as: Captain Keith Tibbetts · MV Capt. Keith Tibbetts · Capt. K Tibbetts · Russian Frigate 356 · Russian Frigate · Russian Destroyer
The Keith Tibbetts began life as Soviet patrol vessel 356, a Brigadier Type II anti-submarine frigate built in 1984; the Cayman government bought her in Cuba and sank her on 17 September 1996, with Jean-Michel Cousteau riding her down. She was renamed after a well-known local politician and sea captain and rests on a sandy plateau. The hull has since broken apart and Hurricane Ivan in 2004 added more damage, yet her gun turrets remain a favourite photo subject. Sponges and corals now cover the wreck, and goliath groupers share it with moray eels, scorpionfish, hawksbill turtles and passing eagle rays, while garden eels, cushion stars and sea cucumbers live in the sand around it. Suitably experienced divers can enter parts of the ship, and the shallow superstructure makes it worthwhile for snorkellers too.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
