Long Bommie
Long Bommie stands apart from the main Opal Reef on its sheltered western side, in about 25 metres of water. It was known for beautiful plate coral gardens, which Cyclone Ita damaged severely. Wavelength monitors the recovery as part of the Eye on the Reef programme and says the site is unlikely to be visited for a while.
