Cathedral (Thetford Reef)

Cathedral is named by Cairns Dive Adventures as one of the two most famous sites on Thetford Reef, and Pro Dive Cairns lists it as one of its two favourites there. The site is a field of coral outcrops and bommies over a sandy seabed, reaching about 30 metres. Gorgonian fans and swim-throughs add interest, and the shallows are full of fish. It is also used for night dives, with sleeping turtles, barracuda and bull rays seen regularly.
