18th Palm

Also known as: Eighteen Palms

The site faces the Lt. Governor's residence, whose garden has at least 18 palm trees, and is entered from the Plaza Resort side. Going south, this is where the reef first divides into two: an outer reef along the bottom at about 27 m and an inner one near shore, with a sand channel between them. Southern stingrays and spotted eagle rays are regular sights on the sand. Tarpon have even been seen asleep here in daylight, which is rare.
