Hospital Point
Also known as: Punta Hospital
Hospital Point lies at the northern tip of Isla Solarte, only about five minutes by boat from Bocas Town. Brain and lettuce corals build a wall full of ledges, small caverns and holes that shelter a lot of reef life. A shallow sandy bay next to the reef is used by students to practise their skills. At night lobsters, hermit crabs, rays and nurse sharks come out, and one resort guide mentions bioluminescent plankton. Because it is sheltered and close to town, it is also a common snorkelling stop.
