Two Mile Reef

Also known as: 2 Mile Reef

The reef begins halfway between the two islands and runs south, parallel to Benguerra, about 4.5 km east of its shore. Its flat top is carved by curving gullies that lead from the shallows towards deeper water, as the reef slopes gently to the east. The seaward side holds many named drop points, among them The Gap, while the Aquarium inside the reef is a classic snorkelling spot. Hard and soft corals carry big schools of reef fish, and divers meet turtles, devil, manta and honeycomb rays, guitarfish, large morays, black-tip reef sharks and pelagic fish such as kingfish and barracuda. Depending on the section dived, it suits Open Water as well as Advanced divers.
