Burghsluis

Also known as: Burghsluis - Oostbout · Oostbout

The easiest entry is at the southern tip of the Oostbout, where the fairway begins almost immediately, so divers watch for ships entering the harbour; diving in or near the harbour and the channel is forbidden. Diving at high water is strongly discouraged, because after the turn the outgoing tide can pull divers off the shore towards the barrier. The bottom is covered with brittle stars, huge sea carnations and several kinds of anemone, and dead man's fingers are more common here than elsewhere in the estuary. Less common sea slugs and edible crabs add to the variety.
