Palestro

Palestro was one of the most heavily armoured ships of her time. During the battle with the Austrian fleet she was damaged, caught fire and exploded; one dive centre says a shot struck her ammunition magazine. Most of her crew went down with her. The wreck lies in a protected area off the north of Vis, and diving is allowed only with authorised dive centres. Full trimix certification is required.
