Sloping Island

Also known as: Sloping Island Kelp Forest · Slopin Island Reef

Sloping Island sits just off the north-west of the Tasman Peninsula, and boats reach it from Dunalley or Pipe Clay Lagoon. On its southern side a reef about 100 metres long and 50 metres wide offers some protection from the swell. Patches of giant kelp shelter seahorses and schools of fish, and the rocks carry colourful sponges. Southerly weather sweeps across Frederick Henry Bay, so the site needs a calm day.
