Northwind

Also known as: North Wind

The Northwind is named after Mel Fisher's salvage boat used on the Atocha treasure and appeared in the TV film Dreams of Gold: The Mel Fisher Story. She washed up at Frederiksted after Tropical Storm Klaus in 1985 and was sunk as an artificial reef in May 1986. Lying upright with a shallow wheelhouse, she is well suited to photographers and newly certified divers. Barracuda, snapper, butterflyfish, angelfish, wrasses and basslets live on the wreck, and a large moray and green and hawksbill turtles are often seen around it.
