Gentle Winds
Gentle Winds lies at the west end of Salt River, facing offshore, and marks the beginning of more than a mile of spur-and-groove reef. Long fingers of hard and soft coral are separated by narrow sand chutes that end on a sandy plain at about 60 feet. The regular layout makes it a common second dive and a training site for navigation. Scorpionfish, flatworms, lettuce sea slugs, lobsters and flying gurnards hide among the coral, and southern stingrays, triggerfish and reef sharks are also seen.
