Tulapos Marine Sanctuary

Tulapos in Enrique Villanueva is described by Bahura Dive as the oldest marine sanctuary on the island. A flat sandy slope is dotted with concrete X-shaped modules placed in 1989 as an artificial reef, now overgrown with coral and giving the site a graveyard-like look. A resident school of giant barracuda patrols the reef edge, usually between March and September, and giant trevally pass through. Blacktip reef sharks occur in the shallows, while frogfish, robust ghost pipefish, seahorses and green turtles reward macro hunters.
