Laguna Reef

Laguna Reef borders a coral lagoon on the west of Tiran Island that a transverse reef divides into a northern and a southern part. South Laguna is the larger and offers boats the best sheltered mooring in the straits. The outer reef is dived as a drift whose direction depends on the tide, from a wide table-coral plateau in the south to a steeper wall further north. Glassfish pinnacles with gorgonians line the plateau, butterflyfish school along the wall, and Emperor Divers mentions leopard and whitetip reef sharks. The wreck of the Kormoran lies on the north side of the reef.
