Cabbage Patch

The site takes its name from a vast patch of foliose cabbage coral, layer upon layer of fragile plates that stretches beyond the range of visibility. The reef slopes from sand at about 30 m up to shallows of 8 to 10 m, and soft corals here are no more than average compared with other Rainbow Reef sites. Photographers come for the hard corals and for the small life hiding between the plates. Unicornfish, arc-eye hawkfish, Achilles tangs, scalefin anthias, fire dartfish, nudibranchs and the occasional banded sea krait are listed, as is the bicolour fangblenny that is endemic to Fiji.
