Monica Wreck
Also known as: Wreck Monica · Monika · Monica
Grand Bay of the Sea describes the Monica as a French cargo ship of the 1880s carrying material for the Panama Canal; Bavaro Fun Divers dates the loss to around 1900 and says the cargo was railway parts for the sugar cane industry. Little of the hull remains, but the full propeller, the boiler, engine pieces and rails can still be found. Between the wreck and the reef, small caves and canyons have formed, including a tunnel under the wreck, which shelter glassy sweepers, morays and lobsters. The site lies about half a mile off the coast and is often combined with the nearby Anchor Reef, where the ship's anchor chain still rests. Its shallow profile makes it one of the easiest wreck dives on this coast.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
