KVI Tower

KVI Tower takes its name from the radio tower on Point Heyer on the east side of Vashon Island. Boulders and concrete columns placed by WDFW are scattered over a steep sandy slope across a very large area, and a small pleasure-boat wreck lies on the eastern part of the reef. Brown rockfish, giant and red octopus, ratfish and large plumose anemones are typical. The reef is easy to find on a depth sounder and leaves room for many divers; it can also be reached from shore, but that means a long walk across the spit at low tide. Emerald Diving rates it a good off-slack dive for novices.
