Edro III
Also known as: Oniro
The ship, built in Norway in 1966, lost steering in heavy seas and was driven onto the reef; all nine crew were lifted off by helicopter, and the hull has become a landmark of the Peyia coast. Underwater the shallow side holds parts of the wreck, the intact propellers and a large hole in the starboard side through which forklifts from the cargo can be seen. Two anchor chains run out in opposite directions and have turned into small ecosystems; one leads to the anchor and on to swim-throughs, and depths along the chain reach 20 m and more. Barracuda, sea bream, wrasse, octopus and the occasional stingray are seen, and the site can be entered from the beach or from a boat.
