Maeda Point
Also known as: Cape Maeda · Maeda Blue Cave · Blue Cave · Maeda Point-Blue Cave
The centrepiece of Maeda Point is the Blue Cave, a cave partly filled with water and open enough that divers and snorkelers can surface inside it, which is why it is used for first dives. An underwater opening beside the entrance lets daylight in and gives the water its blue glow. Around the cave a hard coral reef holds fish so used to visitors that they come close to divers, and turtles and octopus are seen along the deeper outer reef and drop-off. Beyond the cave the reef slopes and drops much deeper, so experienced divers also find something here. Shore divers walk down a long staircase from the car park, while boats come from nearby ports. The cave is very busy in summer, and one local operator recommends the later boat departures for fewer people.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
