Ugan
Also known as: 男岩 (Japanese) · Ugan (male rock)
The name is written with the characters for 'male rock' and refers to the single rock that towers above the surface north-east of Zamami. Underwater the site drops off steeply, and Marine Diving web describes huge rocks rising from about 40 m. Divers usually start in the lee of the rock where there is no current and then hold on to a current-swept outcrop to watch dogtooth tuna, trevally and schools of fusiliers pass by. Away from the big fish, ribbon eels and pygmy seahorses live here, and manta rays are sometimes seen near the surface. Down- and up-currents can be strong, so guides only take experienced divers here.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
