Sokodo
Also known as: Sokodo Bay · Sanmata
The shallow reef inside the breakwater, mostly table coral, grew after the bay was built and averages about 3 m deep. A short swim past concrete blocks leads to the triple arch, known locally as Sanmata, at around 14 to 16 m, where an artificial reef under the arch holds striped boarfish, spotted knifejaw and semicircle angelfish. Green turtles are common, and macro life such as nudibranchs and frogfish lives around the jetty. It is the main beach site when westerly winds blow, though rip currents can form near the bay exit. The bay is also the island's biggest swimming beach, so divers must take care around swimmers in summer.
