Ennerdale Wreck

Also known as: Ennerdale

The tanker Ennerdale hit uncharted rocks on 1 June 1970 and, because salvage was impossible, the wreck was blown apart afterwards. Its scattered sections now lie north-east of Mahé, far enough out that Atoll Divers says it is the only centre visiting regularly. ZuBlu points to the intact wheelhouse and the large bronze propeller. Groupers, giant morays, eagle rays, schools of fusiliers and jacks, and nurse and grey reef sharks live around the steel. Visibility can be limited, and Scuba Diving magazine recommends the dry season from May to October.
