Coral Garden
Also known as: Off Coral Gardens
The Coral Garden is the closest and best-known dive of Hikkaduwa and a relaxed site for long, shallow dives. Red and orange corals cover rocks cut by small caves, valleys and swim-throughs. Moray eels, lobsters, shrimps and the occasional octopus or squid live among the rocks, together with pufferfish, porcupinefish, boxfish and triggerfish. Nudibranchs and flatworms make it interesting for macro lovers. Dive centres ask divers to take special care not to touch the delicate coral.
