Aquarium Bay

Also known as: Akvaryum Koyu

Aquarium Bay is one of the best-known dive spots around Fethiye, 30 to 40 minutes by boat from the harbour. It is well sheltered and diveable in most weather apart from northerly winds, but only a few boats fit inside. Behind the bay a sandy bottom begins at 2 to 3 metres, stays shallow for a long stretch and then slopes to about 10 to 12 metres, which makes it a common training spot. By day divers meet breams, groupers, triggerfish, lizardfish, morays, red mullets and octopus, and at night huge numbers of sand smelt gather. Day-trip boats are busy here, so divers have to keep an eye on traffic overhead.
