Absberg Seespitz

Absberg Seespitz was the home of the Tauchbasis Großer Brombachsee, which a Fürth dive shop ran at the Seespitz leisure area from June 2003 until it closed in 2017. Reviews from 2009 describe an entry in Absberg below a small and a large jetty and the water rescue building, with big zander, wels catfish, pike and plenty of perch. The lake is a reservoir, and divers say the old roads that once ran through the valley can still be seen on the bottom. In summer the surface can reach 26 °C while the water at 20 m stays at about 4 °C, so the interesting part of the dive lies above roughly 15 m. The district rules of 2019 require every dive to be reported to the police in Gunzenhausen beforehand, a flag A for shore dives and daylight only, and they ban diving at landing stages, buoyed bathing areas and reed banks.
