Cathedral
Also known as: La Cathedrale
Dive centres in Flic en Flac describe the Cathedral as the most famous site on the island, and it lies only about five minutes by boat from the port. Steep drop-offs meet large boulders here and form arches, caves and a chimney, with the main cavern resembling the vault of a cathedral. Light falling in from the blue water contrasts with the walls of the arch. The top of the wall is often crowded with reef fish, especially when the current comes from the north, and lobsters shelter in the arches and caves. Because the maximum depth is around 28 to 30 m, the site is aimed at experienced divers and Nitrox is recommended.
