Boca das Caldeirinhas
Also known as: Boca da Caldeirinha
The site takes its name from the opening where the volcanic crater of Guia Hill meets the sea on its south side. The crater itself is a protected reserve with restricted access, and the dive runs along its edge. A wide platform at about 10 m holds many moray eels, ornate wrasse and parrotfish, and Dive Azores mentions a parrotfish cleaning station. The platform drops as a vertical wall to around 30 m, home to large dusky groupers, and continues deeper to a small cave with a big branch of black coral. Haliotis describes the scenery as a volcanic landscape of canyons and caves.
