Amberjack Reef
Also known as: Amber Jack Reef
Amberjack Reef is a maze of tall coral heads rising from a sand floor at around 60 ft, and it lies only a short distance from Danger Reef. The site became known through shark feeding dives, and although the park has asked operators to stop feeding, Caribbean reef sharks are still regularly seen here, together with nurse sharks. Large groupers rest under the boat, big schools of horse-eye jacks may join divers at the safety stop, and garden eels sway in the sand. Because fishing is banned in the park, lobsters are plentiful in the coral. Eagle rays sometimes pass along the reef.
