Split Bommie is one of Scuba IQ's favourite Opal Reef sites. Deep water and wide open spaces surround it, which makes divers expect sharks. In practice it is a macro site, with many nudibranchs and tiny crustaceans. It appears on the lists of notable Opal Reef sites published by I Love Cairns and GreatBarrierReefTours.com.
