Pellowe Reef
Pellowe Reef is smaller than its neighbours Flynn and Milln and sits close to the continental shelf, which brings in larger pelagic fish. The flip side of that position is exposure: boats can only moor there in fine weather, and currents can be stronger. Most dives stay between 5 and 20 metres, although the wall falls away to 30 metres in places. Chevron barracuda, Napoleon wrasse, rays, whitetip reef sharks, sea cucumbers and nudibranchs are mentioned by dive centres. Named sites include Cucumber Alley, called after its many sea cucumbers.
