The Bistro

The site lies on the mainland reef south-west of Pacific Harbour, inside a marine protected area linked to the village of Wainiyabia. Divers settle along a low wall of coral rubble around the feeding area, which keeps them in position and away from the bait. Bull sharks are the main attraction, with whitetip, blacktip, tawny nurse, sicklefin lemon, grey reef and silvertip sharks and the occasional tiger shark. More than 300 fish species are reported, with rare sightings of Queensland grouper and humphead wrasse and a resident giant moray. The trip is a two-tank dive with the second dive repeating the feed after a surface interval.
