Shark Reef

Also known as: The Arena · Shark Reef Marine Reserve

The reef sits inside the Shark Reef Marine Reserve, off Pacific Harbour on a ledge next to the drop into Beqa Passage. The first dive starts at about 30 m overlooking The Arena, where a dive master drops tuna heads and bull sharks take centre stage alongside tawny nurse, sicklefin lemon and silvertip sharks. Divers then move up the slope to about 10 m for a hand feed with grey reef and lemon sharks, and finish at about 4 m, where whitetip and blacktip reef sharks gather during the safety stop. The second dive starts at 25 m or 15 m depending on conditions and usually brings even more bull sharks. Everyone keeps to a fixed observation position and a set profile, which makes this a tightly choreographed encounter rather than a free exploration.
