Madivaru Corner

Also known as: Rasdhoo Madivaru · Hammerhead Point

The dive starts on the wall in front of Madivaru Island, where a ridge rises to about 10 metres and overhangs and caverns lie between 25 and 30 metres. Close to deep water, it is the classic Maldives spot for scalloped hammerheads, which appear in the blue at dawn. On the reef, grey reef and whitetip sharks, eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse, barracuda, jacks, dogtooth tuna and giant trevally are common. With the right current, divers drift into the channel to finish shallower. Currents can be medium to very strong, so reef hooks and a surface marker buoy are used.
