First Bay South
Also known as: Cazar Reef · Death Valley
A permanent rope on the bottom helps divers find their way from the mooring. The usual route passes the cabbage coral on the corner of the reef, then crosses coral bushes and a seamount with black corals before returning over the reef at about 12 m. Cornetfish, parrotfish, eight-lined wrasse and fusiliers are common, and pelagic fish patrol the outer reef. Near the sandy valleys strong down-currents can pull divers deep, which is why technical divers call the deep part Death Valley.
