Val Bomber

Val was the Allied code name for the Aichi D3A, a Japanese dive bomber of the Second World War. The aircraft lies upside down beside the reef, and one wing rests about 40 ft away towards the north-east. The dive ends with an ascent along the reef slope, where turtles and octopuses are often seen. Several barges in shallow water add interest at the end of the dive. Because of the depth, divers need to watch air and bottom time closely.
