Secret Bay
Also known as: Mainit Muck · Manit Muck
The dark volcanic sand slopes gently out into the bay for roughly 150 metres and looks barren at first, yet it holds an extraordinary range of critters. Mimic, blue-ringed and wonderpus octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish, seahorses, frogfish, rhinopias and many kinds of gobies are regular finds. Warm water and bubbles seep from the sand in places, a sign of the geothermal activity in the area. Bottles and other debris on the bottom serve as homes for octopus. The silt stirs up easily, so careful buoyancy and a dive around slack tide help photographers.
