Mapating Rock

Also known as: Mapating · Mapating Cave

The name is said to mean many sharks, as whitetip reef sharks once slept in the cave entrance. Today sharks are seen less often, but large marble rays still rest in the entrance area. Strong currents bring pelagic fish past the wall. A deeper chamber beyond recreational limits is reached only through a narrow crack and is reserved for trained technical cave divers. Operators dive it at slack tide because the current can become very strong.
