The Arch
Also known as: Gawang
The signature of this Ternate wall is a natural archway in the reef face, which Starfish places at about 20 to 30 m and Manta Mae describes as close to ten metres high. Alor Underwater Explorers rates it a beginner site with minimal current. The wall is covered in soft corals, gorgonians and whip corals several metres long, where the rare wire coral shrimp can be found. Schools of snappers and fusiliers, batfish, turtles and reef sharks pass along the wall, and divers report sea snakes and bluefin trevally. The local name given in the provincial dive site list is Gawang.
