Pandora

Pandora was found by a La Buga instructor and is a gently sloping coral and sponge reef off Isla Solarte that guides compare with the film Avatar. In 2019 the sailboat Godewind, about 14 m long, was sunk here as an artificial reef, and its raised sail makes it unusual among wrecks. Spotted drums, spiny lobsters, squirrelfish and grey angelfish are typical, and nurse sharks sometimes sleep inside the wreck. Beyond the reef the bottom turns to plain sand, and the moderate depth means newly certified divers can join.
